From start to finish, our operation is done by hand. We hand milk our goats to provide us with rich, delicious milk ideal for cheese and yogurt. Hand milking 23 goats can be a challenge, but we love the chance it gives us to connect with each goat and assess their udders and overall health (plus our beefy forearms are a nice perk as well!). After milking, we often make cheese or yogurt right away in 4 gallon batches. All curds are delicately hand ladled, and each yogurt jar is filled by us. We feel more connected to our ancestors when we make cheese in this way, knowing we are carrying on important traditions we hope to pass on to our children some day. It also makes us feel like each jar of yogurt or cajeta, each tub of cheese, and each bar of soap is special- a lot of care and attention went into their production.
All of our ingredients are organic and/or local. We try to source as many products as we can from fellow vendors at our Farmers' Markets. Our products are truly artisanal and farmstead, and with the help of our fellow farmers we feel that our products are some of the highest quality goat dairy products you'll find in Maine.
